.Spirit Defense announced last Friday that they will be a manufacturing partner on General Atomics’ new FQ-42 Vengeance Collaborative Combat Aircraft, with the work done here in Wichita. It was great to join them for the ribbon cutting ceremony. It’s important that we manufacture our nation’s defense programs in American factories so that we can protect our supply chains.
McConnell Air Force Base is preparing to transition from the KC-135 to the newer KC-46. I had the opportunity to fly on the KC-135, which the 22nd Air Refueling Wing has flown for more than five decades. The first KC-135 flew in 1956, and more than 350 are still in the air today. Thank you to the airmen at McConnell who have kept these aircraft ready far longer than expected.
I joined Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins for a roundtable discussion at Passageways in Wichita. Passageways works to reduce veteran homelessness in south central Kansas. In the past year, the VA has helped nearly 52,000 homeless veterans find permanent housing, the highest amount in seven years. Kansas veterans earned their benefits, and my office is happy to help veterans who need assistance. You can find more information at estes.house.gov/casework or call my district office at 316-262-8992.
It was great to have SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum in Wichita on Tuesday. We stopped at Greater Grounds Coffee downtown and visited with Byron, who opened the shop after serving in the Navy. Later we toured Leading Technology Composites, where Kansans make the body armor and ballistic shields that protect our troops and law enforcement. Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cuts are helping businesses like these invest and hire.
