On Friday I enjoyed speaking with John Whitmer on KNSS and giving him an update about what Congress has been up to lately.

We first talked about the Memorial Day holiday and the importance of remembering all of the courageous Americans who paid the ultimate sacrifice. They gave their lives in defense of our freedoms, and it’s important that we continue to honor them, especially this 250th year of America. I was thankful to spend Memorial Day at two services in Newton and Wichita.

I was happy to discuss the major win for Kansas farmers and ethanol producers with the House’s passage of year-round E15. The legislation will decrease fuel prices by providing consumers with more choices at the gas pump. As part of the Farm Bill, this legislation is currently being considered by the U.S. Senate.

.Federal dollars should protect innocent life, not fund its destruction, which is why I led a letter to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. urging him to reissue the Protect Life Rule in Title X. Congress authorized the Title X Family Planning Program in 1970 to provide mothers and families with health services, education and more. Congress then passed the Hyde Amendment to ensure that federal tax dollars would not fund abortions, including in Title X.

However, President Biden’s policies subsidized the abortion industry by mandating abortion referrals and co-located abortion services in Title X. Reissuing the Protect Life Rule, as I asked Secretary Kennedy to do, will ensure that taxpayers do not subsidize abortions in the Family Planning Program. The rule will put an end to the Biden-era policies that encouraged and promoted abortion in this program.

.This week, I spoke to the Coalition for a Prosperous America about the importance of investing in domestic manufacturing. I spoke about an example of Made-in-America manufacturing from the district in Maize.

Charlotte Pipe and Foundry opened a brand-new $80 million facility in Maize last year. This new facility benefits the Sunflower State economically by providing jobs to Kansans, and it sets a great blueprint for the rest of the country.

As a Member of the Ways and Means Committee, I will continue to support American manufacturing by advocating for pro-growth tax policies and the elimination of burdensome regulations so that America will remain prosperous.

.Did you know Kansas is home to the first national hamburger chain? In 1921, Walter Anderson and Billy Ingram opened the first White Castle in Wichita. Anderson previously owned three hamburger stands, while Ingram was a starting partner at an insurance firm. They worked to create a clean, transparent environment where people could see their patties made to fight the idea that hamburgers were unsafe and unhealthy. More than a century after the chain’s founding, White Castle has over 300 locations in the United States.
