.1. It was great to speak at the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce Federal Issue Forum on Thursday about federal legislation that impacts Kansans. I talked about the One Big, Beautiful Bill, Republicans’ historic piece of legislation that was signed into law by President Trump in July. Our legislation provides tax relief for Kansas businesses, families and workers, benefitting the economy as a whole. I’m grateful for the opportunity to speak to leaders from Wichita and south central Kansas.

2. This week I also spoke at the Kansas Independent Oil & Gas Association’s (KIOGA) Annual Convention in Wichita, alongside Reps. Tracey Mann and Derek Schmidt. I enjoyed meeting many hardworking oil and gas producers here in the Sunflower State. American energy dominance is good for our country, the world and the environment.

3. I visited C.E. Machine Company, an aerospace manufacturer in Wichita. We spoke about Republicans’ One Big, Beautiful Bill and its pro-growth tax policies that are good for their company and our community. I’m always grateful to meet with Kansans and learn about what they do.

4. This week I also toured Rainier Arms and the Rainier Arms Firearms Academy in Wichita. We discussed their manufacturing business, training center and the Second Amendment.

.Digital Services Taxes (DSTs) are egregious foreign taxes that hurt American businesses and workers. I’ve long opposed DSTs, and in 2023, I introduced a resolution against these foreign taxes. President Trump agrees with me. On Truth Social this week, the president wrote that he will stand against countries with discriminatory taxes, legislation and regulations. I’m grateful that he is standing up for our country, and I strongly support his commitment to defend our tech innovators.

Headline: POTUS Continues to Address Crime in DC

.Nearly three weeks ago, on Aug. 11, 2025, President Trump declared a crime emergency in the District of Columbia. His crackdown on crime came after repeated acts of violence in our nation’s capital, including one that took the life of my intern, Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, this summer. D.C.’s murder rate for 2024 was higher than the cities of Mexico City, Islamabad, Lima and others.

On Aug. 25, 2025, President Trump took additional measures to address the crime in Washington, D.C. He directed the hiring of additional prosecutors of violent crimes, the ending of cashless bail in the District of Columbia, the ending of unwarranted pretrial release in the District of Columbia, and more. I support the president’s actions because the people who visit, work, and live in our capital should be able to do so safely and peacefully.

.Each year, I have the honor of nominating young men and women from the district to the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Those who are appointed to a U.S. service academy receive a full-ride and commit to serving in the military for five years upon graduation.
