.Dear Friend,
Last Wednesday, Shield AI announced its selection of Newton to be the first flight test and sustainment home for X-BAT, the world’s first AI-piloted fighter jet that takes off and lands vertically. The company projects that about 2,900 jobs will be added to the Newton area, along with adding roughly $5 billion to the local economy by 2046.
In the Air Capital of the World, Kansans have been building and flying airplanes for more than a century, and that’s why Shield AI selected Newton as the location for its facility. I’m looking forward to seeing this program continue to grow in Kansas, and I’m happy that more jobs and investments are coming to our state. I’ll continue supporting policies like the Working Families Tax Cuts that encourage domestic manufacturing, lower taxes for our communities, and strengthen our aerospace and defense industries.
