On our nation’s 250th birthday, President Trump officially launched “Trump Accounts” which will strengthen the next generation of Americans by making it easier to achieve the American Dream. Trump Accounts were created by Congressional Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cuts, and they allow families to open tax-advantaged accounts for children under 18. In effect, this means that American children will be able to save and have a stake in the American economy from birth. Children born between Jan. 1, 2025, and Dec. 31, 2028, may be eligible for a $1,000 contribution from the Treasury. More so, up to $5,000 can be added to these accounts every year.

A few days before the launch of Trump Accounts, President Trump welcomed me to the White House, along with some of my Republican colleagues, to celebrate 250 years of American independence. We enjoyed dinner at the Rose Garden and hearing from the President. It was great to speak to President Trump and Vice President Vance, who are both working hard to improve the quality of life for Kansans and all Americans.

The same spirit of American freedom and greatness that we celebrated on Independence Day is being reflected in the creation of Trump Accounts, and I encourage you to sign up your children for these accounts. You can find more information about these accounts here.

Meeting with the Secretary of the Air Force

.Recently I met with the Secretary of the Air Force, Dr. Troy Meink, in my office. We discussed the Air Force’s budget request and their Point Defense Battle Lab initiative, which has been designated to the 184th Wing of the Kansas National Guard at McConnell Air Force Base. It was great to talk about the 4th District’s important role in the Air Force, and I appreciated the opportunity to speak with him.

.One day before our nation celebrated its 250th anniversary, I was happy to be in Haysville to celebrate the city’s 75th anniversary. At the Haysville Community Library last Friday, Kansans gathered in honor of the significant milestone. We opened a time capsule and recognized the past 75 years of the city’s strength, grit, compassion and resilience.

I enjoyed presenting the community with remarks I submitted to the Congressional Record about Haysville’s anniversary. I look forward to seeing the city grow and flourish for many years to come!

Type 1 Diabetes is a life-altering diagnosis that impacts millions of Americans, including thousands of Kansans. On Tuesday, I met with Kansas families in Wichita who shared their experiences with T1D. They advocated for policies that will improve the lives of those who live with T1D.

I had the opportunity to visit Viavi Solutions at their Wichita facility this week and learn firsthand how Viavi is enhancing electronic warfare capabilities for our warfighters. Innovators like Viavi are tackling the challenges of the modern battlefield and adapting to the changing environment of UAS and C-sUAS, right here in Kansas.

.Did you know that Wichita’s Orpheum Theater, created in 1922, is one of the last remaining vaudeville theaters in the United States? Located on the corner of First and Broadway, the Orpheum was created for the vaudeville circuit, which was a network of over 100 theaters throughout America. It is only one of 17 remaining vaudeville theaters today. Over the past century many iconic performers graced the Orpheum's stage, including Harry Houdini, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and Joan Rivers, among others. The Orpheum is currently undergoing repairs, and is set to open to the public in September.
