Last Tuesday marked President Trump’s 100th day in office. In 100 days, President Trump has kept his promises. He has made America safe again by securing the southern border – with daily border encounters down 93% and migrant crossings down by 99.99%. As he noted during his address to Congress earlier this year, what our nation needed to secure the border was a new president. On the international stage, the President has focused on peace through strength and worked to bring hostages home. Concerning energy, President Trump has rescinded anti-energy regulations from the disastrous Biden administration. His implementation of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has restored accountability and transparency in the federal government – DOGE has saved American taxpayers more than $160 billion in 100 days, an average of $1.6 billion a day.

House Republicans are committed to supporting the President’s America First agenda through one big, beautiful bill. Right now, I’m working on the House reconciliation bill so that everyday Kansans don’t face the largest tax increase in American history. If we don’t extend the Trump tax cuts, taxes will go up.

As we continue beyond the first 100 days of the second Trump administration, my colleagues and I are prioritizing extending Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, rooting out waste in the federal government, protecting and preserving Social Security, and restoring American energy independence.

.Last week I was pleased to see that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waived the sale of E15 gasoline (gasoline with 15% ethanol), providing consumers with more choices at the gas pump and Kansas farmers with more certainty. Not only will the EPA’s action benefit Kansas ethanol producers, but it will promote American energy independence.

I’m also a cosponsor of the House legislation that makes E15 gasoline available year-round – the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act. Kansas farmers, drivers and producers all deserve more choices, certainty and economic opportunities.

.In a few short days, on May 7, 2025, REAL ID will be enforced in the United States. The REAL ID Act was passed by Congress in 2005, prior to my time serving as a Representative in the House. The legislation was passed at the recommendation of the 9/11 Commission to create federal identification standards.

Specifically, REAL ID is required for boarding domestic flights, accessing certain federal facilities and entering nuclear power plants. REAL ID-compliant identification cards are marked with a star in the upper portion of the card. The TSA also accepts a U.S. passport or military ID as alternative forms of identification.

.Did you know that a U.S. senator from Kansas introduced the legislation for the National Day of Prayer? In 1952, after nearly two centuries of various presidential proclations on prayer from time to time, Sen. Frank Carlson introduced a joint resolution calling on the president to set aside a day annually as a National Day of Prayer, stating, “The people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals.” It passed both the House and Senate and was signed into law by President Harry Truman. The National Day of Prayer is now recognized annually on the first Thursday of May in the United States and was recently celebrated on May 1. It is a time for Americans to come together and pray for our country. Prior to his service in the Senate, Carlson also served as Kansas governor, a U.S. representative, and a representative in the Kansas House.
