.Dear Friend,
Last week, the House Budget Committee reviewed and passed the budget framework for fiscal year 2025. This framework is the first step to delivering on President Trump’s America First policy agenda and will help rein in spending, eliminate waste and fraud, protect our borders, bolster our national defense, ensure tax cuts do not expire and promote pro-growth policies.
Americans gave Republicans a trifecta in D.C. to take this type of bold action, and a one reconciliation bill strategy, as outlined in the budget framework, gives us the best chance at passing legislation that advances America First policies and is able to reach President Trump's desk to become law.
Importantly, the budget resolution will allow me and my colleagues on the Ways and Means Committee to make pro-growth tax reforms from the Trump Tax Cuts permanent. Without extending the Trump Tax Cuts, taxes on nearly every American will go up. The average taxpayer in Kansas will see a $2,200 tax increase if the Trump Tax Cuts are allowed to expire.
I spoke in support of this bill during the Budget Committee markup and look forward to voting for it on the House floor soon.
