WICHITA, KS – This week, Congressman Ron Estes finished the 4th Congressional District August Listening Tour. Over the past month, Congressman Estes met with hundreds of constituents through visits to higher education/workforce training programs, industry and agriculture tours, farm bureau meetings, parades and county fairs, chambers of commerce presentations, business roundtables, town halls and meetings with military service members and veterans groups. Congressman Estes held over 120 meetings and traveled around 80 miles a day, which adds up over the month to the distance required to drive across Kansas six times, or across the 4th District twelve times. Congressman Estes issued the following statement: “I appreciate hearing the input from my fellow Kansas and I am proud to be able to take their ideas back to Washington," said Rep. Estes. "It's very apparent that Kansans want real results from Washington, and I get it. We need to focus on fixing America's economy in order to allow more people the opportunity to climb up the economic ladder. This starts with getting the government out of the way of economic growth by repealing redundant regulations and updating our outdated, and overly complicated tax code. I'm going to go through the budget line-by-line to make sure Washington is fiscally responsible to hard working Kansans." "To all those, who I had the opportunity to meet over August, thank you for taking time out of your day to share your thoughts with me. You deserve real results, and I'm committed to ensuring that we start solving problems in Washington, not making more." Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Committee on Homeland Security. |
