Rep. Estes Praises Removal of Steel and Aluminum Tariffs

WASHINGTON―Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement after today's announcement that the United States, Mexico and Canada have reached an agreement to remove all steel and aluminum tariffs between the neighboring countries.

"Today's news is a significant milestone for our state and country as we work toward free and fair trade among our three countries," said Rep. Estes. "We know that our manufacturers and producers thrive when they have open access to markets and can freely buy and sell goods globally. This is one more reason for us to push toward final passage of the United States-Mexico-Canada Free Trade Agreement (USMCA) and it shows that we are ready to negotiate with all of our trading partners in the pursuit of both free and fair trade."

Rep. Estes serves on the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee which oversees trade and is part of the whip team to ensure passage of the USMCA in the House.

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
