Rep. Estes Welcomes House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy to Kansas

WICHITA—Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) and the top Republican in the U.S. House, Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California), were in Wichita today to tour the National Center for Aviation Training at WSU Tech and discuss trade and the economy. Representatives Estes and McCarthy were joined by WSU Tech President Sheree Utash, Karyn Page, President/ CEO of Kansas Global Trade Services, and other representatives from the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce and Wichita State University.

"WSU Tech is a national leader for innovation and workforce development, especially in aviation manufacturing. As we work to continue growing our economy, it was an honor to share the exceptional innovation at WSU Tech with Republican Leader McCarthy, as well as discuss the importance of the USMCA and trade to our district and country," said Rep. Estes.



Yesterday, the U.S. Trade Representative issued a draft Statement of Administrative Action for the USMCA to Congress, the latest step in securing congressional approval for the trade deal. Leader McCarthy and Rep. Estes, a member of the USMCA whip leadership team, discussed how the deal with Mexico and Canada will create 176,000 new American jobs and and boost U.S. GDP by $68 billion. As Kansas' top export markets, trade with Mexico and Canada was worth $4.9 billion in 2017 and supports 110,000 jobs in Kansas.

Dr. Sheree Utash is also a member of President Trump's American Workforce Policy Advisory Board.

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
