WASHINGTON-Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) announced the U.S. Department of Labor has certified the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) petition for Spirit AeroSystems and on-site leased workers affected by recent production halts.
"Today's certification of a Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) petition is welcome news to the men and women impacted by recent aerospace production halts," said Rep. Estes. "These Kansans are dedicated, skilled workers and I'm pleased that they can now apply for benefits through TAA, which include job training, health coverage tax credits and other reemployment services. I'm continuing to work with the FAA to ensure the Boeing 737 MAX returns safely to the skies without delay while joining together with our community to stand with our fellow Kansans through the Air Capital Commitment." Affected Spirit AeroSystems and on-site leased workers interested in benefits through the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program can learn more and apply at a local American Job Center. Locations include the Wichita Workforce Center, 2021 N. Amidon, Suite 1100, Wichita, Kansas 67203, and KansasWorks Newton, 203 E. Broadway, Newton, Kansas 67114.
