Rep. Estes Announces 2020 Congressional Art Competition Will Continue Online

WICHITA-Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) has announced new details for the Kansas 4th District Congressional Art Competition due to the coronavirus outbreak. To keep Kansans safe and comply with stay-at-home orders, Congressman Estes’ staff will be accepting submissions online and will not be hosting an in-person art show or awards reception this year.

“The annual Congressional Art Competition is a great way to showcase the artistic talent of our young people here in the 4th District,” said Rep. Estes. “I’m glad that we can continue this annual tradition while maintaining safe social practices.”

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students, and the revised deadline to enter is Friday, April 10, 2020. The winning artwork will be framed and shipped to Washington, D.C., to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year with other winners from around the country. The winning student may also receive two free roundtrip airfare tickets to attend a reception in D.C. to honor the winners.

Students and high school art teachers interested in learning more about the Congressional Art Competition should visit estes.house.gov/art.

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
