Rep. Estes Joins Bipartisan Letter Calling on HHS to Help Rural Health Providers

WASHINGTON–Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) recently joined his colleagues in sending a bipartisan letter to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar requesting that rural hospitals have access to financial relief provided by the CARES Act.

“For many Kansans, rural hospitals are critical in providing their health care close to home, and they are now on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19,” said Rep. Estes. “The CARES Act includes measures to assist these health care providers, and its passage was a significant step in the right direction. I will continue to work with Secretary Azar and the administration to ensure our rural hospitals have adequate resources to continue to provide excellent care in these unprecedented times.”

Estes was one of 81 representatives, along with 41 senators, to sign the letter highlighting the unique financial challenges faced by rural hospitals. Read the text of the letter with the full list of signers here.

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
