Rep. Estes Applauds Funding Award for Kansas Community Health Centers

WASHINGTON–Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) applauded the additional funding awarded to community health centers by HHS through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The additional dollars are a result of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed by the House and signed into law on March 27. Kansas will receive $15,385,520 to support 19 health centers across the state, including five in the 4th District.

"Kansas' front-line health care workers are fighting daily to keep their community safe and healthy, but the impact of COVID-19 has dynamically threatened many hospitals and health care centers throughout the country," said Rep. Estes. "This critical funding for south central Kansas will help them detect, prevent, diagnose, and treat COVID-19 as well as maintain or increase capacity and staffing. This is welcome news for these HRSA-funded centers and the many Kansans they serve."

Health centers receiving these grants from the CARES Act are:
Community Health Center in Cowley County, Winfield ($570,005)
GraceMed Health Clinic, Wichita ($1,771,460)
Health Ministries Clinic, Newton ($777,545)
HealthCore Clinic, Wichita ($699,665)
Hunter Health Clinic, Wichita ($885,545)

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
