Rep. Estes Highlights Need for State, Local Governments to Work Together Regarding CARES Act Funding

WASHINGTON–Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) sent a letter to local government entities throughout Kansas, including the Wichita City Council, regarding funds made available in the CARES Act. Rep. Estes voted in support of the bipartisan Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act that includes funding to help state and local governments face new challenges as a result of the recent public health crisis.

“The intent of Congress is to support state and local government as much as possible during this crisis,” wrote Rep. Estes. “The state of Kansas is receiving a massive level of funding in the current structure. I want to encourage all levels of our state and local governments to work together in a manner and response equal to the situation we are facing.”

It is expected that Kansas will receive a total of $1.25 billion from the $150 billion fund appropriated by Congress for state and local governments. The full text of the letter can be found here.

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
