WASHINGTON – Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement after the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced $100 million in available grants to improve biofuel infrastructure. “Energy producers are a vital part of our economy and communities in Kansas,” said Rep. Estes. “I’m pleased that Secretary Perdue and the Trump administration are nurturing the expansion of our nation’s ethanol and biofuels industries. I will continue to represent Kansas energy workers and promote American energy independence in Congress.” This funding is part of the Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP) designed to expand the sale and use of ethanol and biodiesel fuels. In January, Rep. Estes joined his colleagues on a letter to USDA Secretary Sonny Purdue requesting that the HBIIP program make changes to relieve regulatory burdens on this industry. Rep. Estes is also a member of the House Energy Action Team (HEAT) to promote policies that address energy prices, support energy workers, and encourage energy independence for the United States. Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
