Rep. Estes Applauds $5.7 Million in FEMA Funding for Kansas Food Banks

WASHINGTON – Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released a statement following the announcement that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will grant the state of Kansas $5,760,000 for food bank purchases.

“Communities across Kansas are still feeling the effects of COVID-19 as the state slowly reopens,” said Rep. Estes. “This funding is critical to ensuring Kansas families are fed through this crisis, and supporting our local farmers and ranchers.”

Authorized by the Stafford Act, this funding will go to the Kansas Adjutant General's Department, Division of Emergency Management (KDEM). So far, Kansas has received approximately $40 million in FEMA funding for COVID-19 related expenses.

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
