Rep. Estes Applauds $20 Million Investment in Wichita State Artificial Intelligence Program

WASHINGTON – Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released a statement following the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) announcement of $100 million in funding for Artificial Intelligence Institutes over a period of five years. $20 million of this funding will establish the AI Institute for Foundations of Machine Learning (IFML) at Wichita State University. “The National Science Foundation’s investment in artificial intelligence programs in universities will have a profound impact on our nation’s workforce and ensure the United States’ leadership in this field,” said Rep. Estes. “Wichita State University has a proven track record of excellence in research and development of new technology. This investment will further expand learning opportunities and career choices for our students and increase and diversify talent in Kansas’ workforce.” This federal investment in artificial intelligence programs is a partnership with the NSF, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Department of Transportation to ensure this funding impacts multiple sectors of the American economy for years to come. |
