Rep. Estes Applauds New DOJ Grant for Wichita State University

WASHINGTON – Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released a statement following the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office on Violence Against Women’s announcement of a $300,000 grant to Wichita State University to increase safety for students on campus.

“It’s important that all students feel safe on campus while pursuing higher education,” said Rep. Estes. “I’m grateful that the Department of Justice is dedicated to combatting domestic violence and sexual assault on college campuses across the United States.”

This grant aims to reduce domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking at public universities. The funding will allow Wichita State University to work with the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office and the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center to implement prevention programming for students and teachers, offer training to law enforcement and campus staff, and provide access to 24-hour victim services.
