Rep. Estes Applauds Two 2020 National Blue Ribbon Schools in Wichita

WASHINGTON – Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released a statement following theU.S.Department of Education’s2020 National Blue Ribbon School award announcement. This year’s recipients include Wichita’s Bostic Traditional Magnet Elementary School andSt. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School. “The National Blue Ribbon School award is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the educators, administrators and parents at these schools,” said Rep. Estes. “Wichita is fortunate to have two schools named for this award, showcasing the exceptional qualities of our students and community.” This year, the Department of Education recognized 367 schools, including six schools in Kansas. Both Bostic Traditional Magnet Elementary School andSt. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School were in the “Exemplary High Performing Schools” category, meaning they are among Kansas’ highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests. Other schools in Kansas to receive the 2020 National Blue Ribbon designation include: Bradley Elementary School (Fort Leavenworth), Grant F. Timmerman Elementary School (Emporia), Piper Elementary School (Kansas City) and Prairie Creek Elementary School (Olathe). Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means. |
