WASHINGTON – Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement after the House voted on a partisan coronavirus relief bill.
 
"Tonight, the Democratic-led House passed another partisan bill that is more about messaging in an election year than helping hurting families and small businesses," said Rep. Estes. "Congress was able to work in a bipartisan manner earlier this year to pass three major pieces of legislation that funded and established testing, vaccine development, paid leave, unemployment insurance expansions, state and local government assistance, and the Paycheck Protection Program. However, the closer we get to Nov. 3, the more Speaker Pelosi refuses to work with colleagues across the aisle, even as Republicans and Democrats have come together on proposals that would reopen negotiations and deliver real results for Kansans. I'm calling on Speaker Pelosi to abandon her partisan wish list that lets criminals out of jail, gives amnesty and cash payments to illegal immigrants, encourages voter fraud through ballot harvesting, and defunds the police."
 
The House passed the Democrats' partisan bill 214-207, with 18 Democrats joining every Republican in voting no.
