WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) announced that Rock Regional Hospital in Derby, Kansas, will receive a CARES Act Provider Relief Fund grant for $818,000. Distributed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, this funding is intended to aid hospitals and health care providers providing medical services for COVID-19 patients. “Our hospitals and medical professionals have been on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic for months,” said Rep. Estes. “Rock Regional Hospital has ensured that patients in Derby and south central Kansas are receiving life-saving care and I’m proud that the CARES Act funding will support their efforts to serve our community.” Rep. Estes voted in favor of the CARES Act to provide targeted relief to Kansas families, workers and businesses. It established the Provider Relief Fund for health care providers that have experienced financial losses and increased operating expenses as a result of the pandemic. “For the past several months, roughly half of the patients at Rock Regional Hospital have been COVID positive patients who are suffering symptoms of this terrible virus,” said Barry Beus, CEO of Rock Regional Hospital. “Our brave staff have stepped up to the challenge of providing care to patients in our community during this difficult time. This CARES Act funding will allow Rock Regional to continue to provide the much-needed care for the communities that we serve. We appreciate Congressman Estes and his staff for their support on behalf of Rock Regional Hospital.” Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means. |
