WASHINGTON – Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) announced that the new U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) program, Operation Engage, has allocated funding to focus on a comprehensive plan to target and prevent opioid use in Wichita. This program is designed to meet the needs of Kansans through engagement, treatment and education. “As we recover from a major public health crisis, it’s essential that we don’t ignore additional areas where we can improve the health and safety of our community,” said Estes. “Operation Engage will focus efforts to prevent opioid and methamphetamine use and provide treatment to those recovering from addiction in Wichita. Working together, we can prevent overdoses and violent crimes that result from opioid use and trafficking in Kansas.” More information about the DEA’s efforts to implement Operation Engage in Wichita can be found here. Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means. |
