Rep. Estes Votes Against Defunding Police, Supports Bipartisan Solutions

WASHINGTON – Today Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) voted against a partisan bill that defunds the police and burdens officers as they protect our communities. Instead, Rep. Estes cosponsored the JUSTICE Act to provide common sense accountability and transparency to our police force.

"Nearly a year after the tragic death of George Floyd, it's clear that our country needs better training, transparency and accountability in law enforcement, which is why I support the common sense JUSTICE Act," said Rep. Estes. "The strictly partisan legislation that passed today is more of a burden to officers rather than the bipartisan solutions that keep our communities safe, incentivize good policing and prevent bad officers from staying in law enforcement. The Democrats’ partisan police bill will make our community less safe."

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
