WASHINGTON – Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement after his appointment to the Joint Economic Committee. This committee is a bicameral effort to report on the United States economy and make policy suggestions for improvement. “At a time when our nation’s economy is recovering from a public health crisis, it’s never been more important for Congress to focus on pro-growth policies. I’m honored to represent Kansas’ 4th District on the Joint Economic Committee, and I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House and Senate to rebuild our nation’s economy.” Rep. Estes is serving his second term on the Committee on Ways and Means, and is a member of the Trade, Select Revenue Measures (Tax), and Social Security Subcommittees. He was the Kansas State Treasurer prior to his service in Congress. Republican Leader, Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, “Since arriving in Congress in 2017, Ron has proven himself to be a thoughtful leader on tax and economic policy. In fact, that leadership became clear from Day 1 when he immediately jumped into action to help write the largest tax reform in thirty years, along with earning a spot on the powerful Ways and Means Committee after serving less than one term. Not only is Ron a committed advocate for the interests of American taxpayers, as a former engineer and state treasurer, he has the training, experience, and demeanor to address their greatest concerns. I know that as a member of JEC he will contribute well to the committee’s responsibility to provide timely, reliable economic analysis to Congress and the American people. As we work to defeat the virus and rebuild our economy, American workers and families deserve nothing less.” Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means. |
