WASHINGTON – Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement after the April jobs report was released.
"Republicans in Congress have been laser-focused on defeating the virus, reopening the economy, and getting Americans back to work and school. Thanks to Operation Warp Speed and American ingenuity, we're on an accelerated path to crushing COVID-19. Unfortunately, the slow-growth policies of Pelosi, Schumer and Biden have stymied our recovery, as made evident by today's abysmal jobs report – a full 734,000 jobs shy of projections and a rise in unemployment for the first time since the recovery began. The evidence is clear – these new Democratic policies are preventing workers from returning to the workforce." Ron Estes, one of only a handful of engineers in Congress, worked in the aerospace, energy and manufacturing sectors before representing Kansas’ 4th Congressional District since 2017. He is a fifth-generation Kansan, former state treasurer, and serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Joint Economic Committee. |
