WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas), along with Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-North Carolina) and Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee), led a letter to President Biden and Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra in support of the Protect Life Rule. Signed by more than 100 lawmakers in the House and Senate, the letter urges Secretary Becerra to keep federally funded family planning separate from abortion providers.
“Taxpayers in Kansas and across the United States deserve to know that their tax dollars will not be spent on abortion services,” said Rep. Estes. “The Biden Administration’s attempt to suspend the Protect Life Rule violates the original intentions of the Title X program and would reverse needed reforms that have allowed the program to reach more Americans.” “The Biden administration is breaking federal law to funnel taxpayer funds to big abortion incorporated through the Title X program,” said Sen. Blackburn. “Planned Parenthood has a history of turning a blind eye to child abuse and has received hundreds of millions in federal funding. By rescinding President Trump’s Protect Life Rule, the administration is stripping protections for women and children victimized by sexual abuse and violence.” “President Biden would do well to remember that the sanctity of human life must always be respected. Unfortunately, his Administration refuses to heed that fundamental principle, and is instead choosing to charter a pathway that puts the unborn squarely within the crosshairs,” said Rep. Foxx. “By dismantling President Trump’s Protect Life Rule, the Biden Administration is clearly abandoning good governance in favor of an agenda that favors their allies in the abortion industry.” Read the full letter with signatures here. |
