Washington, November 16, 2017 | Rob Kuhlman (202-225-6216)

WASHINGTON – Congressman Ron Estes issued the following statement after an information meeting concerning the Department of Homeland Security’s plans to test inert chemicals in northern Oklahoma:

"It is clear that south central Kansans are concerned with the Department of Homeland Security’s plans to test inert chemicals in northern Oklahoma and I share those concerns," said Rep. Estes. "The process the Department used to inform residents was inadequate and I encourage Kansans to utilize the comment period to voice their opinions to DHS."

"I am working with the community to make sure their questions are answered before any more action is taken. The citizens of Kansas have a right to know what is happening near their homes and I will do whatever it takes to keep our community safe."

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Committee on Homeland Security.
