Rep. Estes Votes Against $3.5 Trillion Bloated Budget

WASHINGTON – Today Rep. Estes voted against Democrats' attempt to ram through a partisan $3.5 trillion spending bill that will raise taxes on working American families and small businesses resulting in less economic growth and opportunity.

"Before the COVID-19 pandemic, our economy had taken off thanks to pro-growth policies that valued hard work and entrepreneurship. Instead of pursuing an agenda that will benefit families and small businesses, Democrats have pushed through a bloated $3.5 trillion tax increase and spending bill that will devastate the economy and burden our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. What's even worse is that Democrats prioritized this vote instead of making certain that American lives and assets are safely returned home from Afghanistan."

Earlier today, Rep. Estes participated in a press conference with the Republican Study Committee. You can watch those remarks here.

Background:
The $3.5 trillion budget passed along party lines. It contains the highest sustained spending level in American history and adds $17 trillion in new debt, with $1.6 trillion average yearly deficits. It provides spending for amnesty to illegal immigrants, eliminates "right to work" protections, subsidizes blue state taxes for wealthy Americans, and funds the IRS to hire 87,000 new agents to target Americans and main street businesses, while providing no increase for Homeland Security and reduces military funding to the lowest levels as a percentage of the economy in more than 80 years.

Ron Estes, one of only a handful of engineers in Congress, worked in the aerospace, energy and manufacturing sectors before representing Kansas’ 4th Congressional District since 2017. He is a fifth-generation Kansan, former state treasurer, and serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Joint Economic Committee.
