Rep. Estes Votes Against Suspending Debt Limit

Washington, September 22, 2021 | Roman Rodriguez (316-262-8992)

WASHINGTON – Yesterday Rep. Ron Estes voted against suspending the debt limit as Democrats consider approximately $5 trillion in spending.

"Families, farmers, businesses, and even state and local governments have to live within their means and make responsible financial decisions to be successful, but the attitude in Washington continues to pass on massive debt to future generations in exchange for our current lifestyle," said Rep. Estes. "Increasing the debt ceiling while also proposing trillions in new spending is reckless. Every American – adult and child – already bears the burden of about $85,000 each."

Ron Estes, one of only a handful of engineers in Congress, worked in the aerospace, energy and manufacturing sectors before representing Kansas’ 4th Congressional District since 2017. He is a fifth-generation Kansan, former state treasurer, and serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Joint Economic Committee.
