WASHINGTON – Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) and Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) today announced $7,243,237 in grants for aviation manufacturers through the Aviation Manufacturing Jobs Protection (AMJP) program. These funds will help Kansas aviation employers retain 463 employees. The AMJP program was created by legislation introduced by Rep. Estes and Sen. Moran. This is the second round of AMJP program awards announced to Kansas companies, with $103 million previously awarded in September to support 4,284 employees. “Aviation manufacturing is an essential part of south central Kansas’ community and economy,” said Rep. Estes. “The Aviation Manufacturing Jobs Protection Program is a lifeline that keeps our skilled workforce in Kansas and aids the community as we continue to rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic.” “The aviation manufacturing industry in Kansas plays a critical role in providing our state with high-paying jobs and supporting commercial and general aviation across the country,” said Sen. Moran. “Congressman Estes and I created the Aviation Manufacturing Jobs Protection Program to support this important industry and its skilled workforce during the pandemic. I’m pleased this program has helped 45 Kansas companies and thousands of their invaluable employees.” The AMJP program provides funding to eligible businesses to pay up to half of their compensation costs for certain categories of employees, for up to six months. Rep. Estes and Sen. Moran hosted an information session in June with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) AMJP Program Director Elliott Black for aviation manufacturers in the Wichita area to learn more about the AMJP Program and ask questions directly to the program lead. After receiving the first round of grant applications, the AMJP application was reopened to allow more businesses to apply. The grant recipients below are from the second round of applicants.
