Rep. Estes Votes Against Raising Debt Ceiling

Washington, December 15, 2021 | Roman Rodriguez (316-262-8992)
WASHINGTON – Last night Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) voted against increasing the debt limit by $2.5 trillion.

"Washington continues to waste taxpayer dollars without any desire to curb spending or live within their means," said Rep. Estes. "Every second, the United States borrows approximately $47,000 – nearly the median household income for Kansans. Increasing the debt ceiling while also trying to push trillions more in unnecessary spending is irresponsible, which is why I voted against burdening current and future generations with $31,500,000,000,000 in debt."

The Senate passed the debt limit measure 50-49 along party lines, with the House passing the bill 221-209 mostly along party lines.
