WASHINGTON—Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement after Congress passed the continuing resolution to fund the government until February 8, 2018, and reauthorize the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for six years. "Instead of funding our military and providing health care for our children, Democrats in the House and Senate voted to shut down the government over unrelated immigration demands." "The bottom line is that a government shutdown is never good for the American people, which is why I'm glad to see that my colleagues across the aisle in the Senate have agreed to end their filibuster so that together we can work on solutions to the problems facing our country," said Rep. Estes. Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Committee on Homeland Security. |
