Rep. Estes Celebrates WOTUS Win for Kansas

WASHINGTON – Today Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) issued the following statement after the Supreme Court ruled in the Sackett v. EPA court case that dealt a blow to the disastrous Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule.

"Today's Supreme Court ruling against the burdensome Waters of the U.S. is a victory for Kansas farmers, ranchers, producers and all Americans," said Rep. Estes. "President Biden's plan to regulate every pond and puddle across the country was a gross abuse of power, and the Supreme Court unanimously agreed and upheld the Constitution. Kansans are best positioned to conserve our land and natural resources, and they don't need Biden's bureaucrats 1000 miles away to regulate the rainwater that accumulates in ditches in rural parts of our state."

The Supreme Court ruled unanimously in favor of petitioners Michael and Chantell Sackett. You can view the opinion online.

Rep. Estes has been a fierce opponent of the harmful WOTUS rule. He voted in favor of the 2018 Farm Bill that repealed the Obama-era rulejoined a letter to EPA Administrator Michael Regan in 2022spoke out against the rule later that year and voted in favor of a Congressional Review Act (CRA) to overturn WOTUS earlier this year.
