WASHINGTON - Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement after the public release of whistleblower testimony of two different IRS employees who worked directly on the tax evasion case of Hunter Biden.
"The Ways and Means Committee, as the sole committee with oversight over taxes and the IRS, has reviewed the disturbing facts of $8.3 million in payments to Hunter Biden from foreign entities, including Ukraine and China, and the IRS glossing over the significant crime of tax evasion simply because of his last name. Biden's Department of Justice is tipping the scales to protect the president's son while the whistleblowers who brought these transgressions to light face retaliation. These are serious crimes, and the foreign unreported payments point to the dangerous hold our adversaries could have over the current administration and the lengths that D.C. bureaucrats will go to cover up for the Biden family." In April, an IRS whistleblower contacted the Ways and Means Committee asking the Committee to investigate the mishandling of a high-profile case at the IRS. Over several weeks the Committee worked with the whistleblower's legal counsel to investigate the matter as well as the retaliatory action taken against the whistleblowers.
