WASHINGTON – Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) voted today for H.R. 2670 – the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024.
“The National Defense Authorization Act fulfills our commitment to America by providing for a nation that’s safe, while supporting the service members and families who sacrifice to make our nation’s defense possible,” said Rep. Estes. “In addition to prioritizing military readiness and service members’ needs, this bill curbs waste by cutting inefficient programs, obsolete weapons and unnecessary bureaucracy in the Pentagon, and rejects the Biden administration’s radical political agenda that does nothing to promote military readiness.”
The FY24 National Defense Authorization Act contains numerous provisions for national security and military families, including:
full funding of our national defense while cutting costs and improving efficiency;
vigorous oversight of taxpayer dollars at the Pentagon;
a 5.2% increase in service member basic pay, the largest pay raise in over 20 years;
strengthened capabilities and partnerships to counter the Chinese Communist Party’s increased military aggression;
a pathway back to the armed forces for service members who refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine; and
Department of Defense support in securing the border.
H.R. 2670 was passed in the House of Representatives today by a vote of 219-210. The bill will now go to the U.S. Senate for consideration and final passage.
