Rep. Estes Comments on Biden Impeachment Inquiry

Washington, September 12, 2023 | Roman Rodriguez (316-262-8992)

WASHINGTON – Today Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) issued the following statement after Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-California) directed three committees – Oversight, Judiciary, and Ways and Means – to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Biden.

"Kansans deserve to know the truth about President Biden's participation in his family's business dealings with foreign entities, and an impeachment inquiry is the logical next step that will allow us to uncover the facts," said Rep. Estes. "House Republicans have uncovered an overwhelming amount of evidence including bank records, suspicious activity reports, emails, texts and witness testimony that reveal Joe Biden lied to the American people about his involvement in his family's influence peddling schemes. And, thanks to two brave IRS whistleblowers, we know that the Justice Department – which has been sitting on much of this evidence – has prevented career investigators from pursuing information that could have led to Joe Biden.

"This step was not taken lightly, nor does it guarantee there will be an impeachment, but it allows the House to further investigate serious allegations so we can safeguard our institutions, prevent foreign countries from having a foothold in the White House and ensure that federal agencies aren't being used to cover up the crimes of an elected official or his family."
