Today Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released a statement after voting to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
 
"Secretary Mayorkas has been impeached – a first step in bringing accountability for the reckless Biden administration policies that have resulted in record-breaking surges at our southern border. The next step is for the Senate to bring up the House-passed H.R. 2, which is the toughest border security legislation in decades," said Rep. Estes.
 
After an exhaustive investigation, the House Homeland Security Committee has presented an undisputable case that Secretary Mayorkas has systemically refused to comply with the law and has breached the public trust. Our open borders resulting from Mayorkas' neglect of the law have allowed millions of illegal immigrants to stream into our country month after month. DHS is charged with securing, not opening, our borders and it’s clear that Secretary Mayorkas has failed to live up to this mandate.
