WASHINGTON—Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement after the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted to favorably recommend CIA Director Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State. The full Senate will vote on Pompeo by the end of this week.
“As the former congressman for the 4th district of Kansas and current director of the CIA, Mike Pompeo has proudly demonstrated Kansas values on the national and world stage,” said Rep. Ron Estes, who was elected to succeed Pompeo as the representative of Kansas’ 4th District in April 2017. “I’ve seen firsthand the pragmatic and thoughtful approach Mike Pompeo takes toward addressing any situation. I have also known Mike as a family man who cares about his community and faith. I am proud to see the Senate Foreign Relations Committee favorably recommend Mike Pompeo and now urge the Senate to rise above political partisanship and resistance to confirm our next Secretary of State,” continued Rep. Estes. Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Committee on Homeland Security. |
