Estes Statement on Veterans Affairs Accountability

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement on Tuesday after Congress passed the Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act of 2017:

"America's veterans should not be forced to fight through a bureaucratic labyrinth in order to receive the care they deserve.  Often times, when abuses have come to light at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department has been unable to hold its employees accountable due to excessive bureaucratic red tape.

"This is now going to change.  The Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act of 2017 will guarantee that bad actors are punished, as well as provide whistleblowers with important safeguards so that abuses can come to light sooner.  Our veterans deserve to receive the highest quality of care."

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives.  He serves on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Small Business Committee.
