WASHINGTON—Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas), a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement on Gina Haspel being confirmed as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency by the U.S. Senate:

“CIA Director Gina Haspel has been committed to the CIA and our country’s national security for more than 30 years and is more than qualified to serve as director,” said Rep. Estes. “By assuming this role, Haspel becomes one of the few directors to have risen through the ranks of the CIA and the first female to hold the position. Both historic designations, along with her experience, will allow her to build on the successes of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.”

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Committee on Homeland Security.
