WASHINGTON—Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement on the passage of H.R. 5515, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 in the House of Representatives:
“The National Defense Authorization Act furthers our commitment to rebuilding our military, supporting our men and women in uniform and their families, and fulfilling the promise of more tankers for McConnell Air Force Base and support of our region’s aviation industry,” said Rep. Ron Estes. “This bill provides our troops with the largest pay raise in nine years and continues funding the pipeline for KC-46 tankers for McConnell Air Force Base. This bill also supports our region’s thriving aviation sector by funding aircraft including the P-8 Poseidon, CH-53K and UH-60 manufactured in part in Wichita. I urge the Senate to pass this bill and give our troops the equipment, training and support they deserve.” H.R. 5515 was passed in the House of Representatives today by a vote of 351-66. The bill will now go to the U.S. Senate for consideration and final passage. Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Committee on Homeland Security. |
