WASHINGTON—Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas), a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, released the following statement on President Donald Trump’s Executive Order regarding separations at the border:

“I do not want to see families separated and am pleased this executive action will allow families to remain a unit while they are being processed at our border. Parents should follow legal immigration steps, instead of illegal border crossings which put children at greater risk. I agree with President Trump that we must have compassion about the issue of immigration, while also being a nation that enforces the rule of law and has secure borders," said Rep. Estes. "I will continue to support common-sense border security provisions to strengthen our border, end chain migration and the visa lottery system, build a wall on the border where it makes sense based on terrain and population, and provide stability to DACA recipients, without incentivizing anyone to break our laws and arrive at our borders illegally.”

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Committee on Homeland Security.
