WASHINGTON—Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives today to offer thoughts and prayers to the parish of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Andale and firefighters who were injured responding to a fire there on Sunday, June 24.
“For nearly 125 years, the parish of St. Joseph has been a pillar of west Sedgwick County and our entire community,” said Rep. Estes. “Following Sunday's tragic fire, thankfully the firefighters treated for smoke inhalation and burns were released from the hospital, and in a demonstration of the spirit of our community, nearby Andale High School was quick to open its doors and the church was able to celebrate Mass. I am confident this resilient community will continue to join together to help Father Daryl Befort and all the parishioners of St. Joseph’s as they begin the long and difficult task of rebuilding their church.” Video of Rep. Estes’ remarks can be found here. Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Committee on Homeland Security. |
