Rep. Estes Pushes for Greater Fiscal Accountability

Washington, December 19, 2024 | Roman Rodriguez (316-262-8992)

Tonight, Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) voted in favor of keeping the government open, extending provisions for farmers and providing disaster relief to victims across the country, which failed in the House 174-235. The legislation replaced a previous CR introduced earlier this week that he adamantly opposed.

"Washington has a spending problem, and voters spoke loudly in November that we need to change course in D.C.," said Rep. Estes. "Earlier this week I opposed the monstrous 1,500-plus page wish list masquerading as a CR, which thankfully never even made it to the House floor thanks, in part, to the many Americans who spoke out against the pork-filled CR. After the bad bill was stopped, we voted on a clean, temporary spending bill that the incoming president supports and which provides disaster relief to Americans that the Biden administration abandoned and extends needed support for Kansas farmers. However, this bad habit of governing by CR must end, and I look forward to returning to regular order in 2025 when Republicans control the House, Senate and White House."
