WASHINGTON—Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) announced today that several counties in the 4th District of Kansas have been approved for disaster aid by the Trump administration. Federal funding is available for damages caused by severe storms, winds, and flooding in Barber, Kingman, Kiowa and Pratt Counties from Sept. 1-8, 2018. Additional Kansas counties approved for aid are Clay, Marshall, Rice and Riley.
“The historic amount of rain and severe storms in south central Kansas have left behind damaged communities and farms," said Rep. Estes. "I want to thank the Trump administration and Governor Colyer for working to get this disaster declaration approved and helping our region recover." The White House announced that federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide and that additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the state and warranted by further damage assessments.
