WASHINGTON—Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) is lauding recent nominations of two Kansans for positions by President Donald Trump. On Dec. 14, 2018, Michael Graham of Wichita was nominated to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). On Dec. 7, 2018, Gary Mason of Wichita was appointed to the National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology (NACEPT). Rep. Estes sent letters of recommendation for both nominations.
“I am proud two members of our community will be contributing to these important boards tasked with improving transportation safety and our environment,” said Rep. Estes. “Government works best when people from diverse backgrounds participate and I thank both nominees for their willingness to serve.” The NTSB is charged by Congress to improve transportation safety by investigating all civil aviation accidents and significant accidents in other modes of transportation and issuing safety recommendations. A former pilot in the U.S. Navy and current Director of Flight Operations Safety, Security and Standardization for Textron Aviation, Graham will serve the remainder of a five-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2020 after confirmation. The NACEPT advises the EPA Administrator on improving the development and implementation of domestic and international environmental management policies, programs and technologies. A former deputy secretary of environment for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and CEO of an environmental management consulting firm, Mason will serve a two-year term expiring Nov. 30, 2020. Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Committee on Homeland Security. |
