WASHINGTON—Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) congratulated WSU Tech President Sheree Utash today on her appointment to the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board. The board will work with the National Council for the American Worker, established by President Donald Trump to support and develop job training programs. Today's appointment was announced by Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and Ivanka Trump.

"Thanks to our booming economy, there are now more job openings than job seekers for the first time in history, making education and job training increasingly important," said Rep. Estes. "Dr. Utash and WSU Tech are leaders in workforce development to connect people with skills they need for jobs. I am glad the administration has recognized their efforts and look forward to working with Dr. Utash and the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board to ensure long-term solutions to our workforce needs."

Dr. Utash has served as president of WSU Tech (formerly Wichita Area Technical College) since 2015. She joins elected officials, education leaders and CEOs of companies including Apple, IBM, and Lockheed Martin on the board for a term expiring July 2020.
