WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement on Thursday following the House's passage of H.R. 2825, the Department of Homeland Security Authorization Act: "America faces mounting threats to our national security from around the globe. Since Sept. 11, 2001, there have been 96 Islamist terror plots or attacks against the U.S. homeland. Of these, 31 have occurred since 2015. "This Department of Homeland Security Authorization Act promotes the domestic sharing of counterterrorism information and calls for regular reports to Congress on cost-saving and efficiency activities, including consolidation of facilities and response to operational surges. I believe this legislation will be vital to ensuring America’s continued safety." Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Committee on Homeland Security. ### |
