Rep. Estes Calls for More Rural Health Care Relief

WASHINGTON–Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) issued the following statement after the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released the first tranche of funding for hospitals and health care providers. Kansas hospitals and providers will receive $325,135,950.

"Thanks to the CARES Act, hospitals and health care providers in Kansas are receiving financial relief to help offset the burdens caused by COVID-19," said Rep. Estes. "This is good news for our state, but we need to do more to ensure that rural health care receives the funding provided by Congress in the CARES Act. While this is a positive first step, I'm calling on HHS Secretary Azar to continue making rural health care a priority as our Kansas doctors, nurses and medical staff are fighting against COVID-19."

Last week Congressman Estes signed a bipartisan letter with House and Senate colleagues urging HHS to ensure rural hospitals receive relief during this challenging time. Click here to view the press release. Read the text of the letter with the full list of signers here.

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas’ 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
